What would America be like without Income Taxes?

The price of every product and service should drop when the corporate income tax and the high cost of tax compliance or tax avoidance is eliminated

Increased buying power would mean low-income workers would be able to survive without subsidies

Families would be able to get by on one income, so more parents would be able to stay home with their children

More corporations would be able to pay dividends to their stockholders (currently only after-tax profits are available)

No "double taxation" on corporate dividends received by investors

More capital would be available for investment in businesses that create jobs and increase wealth

Charities would be able to do more with less due to increased buying power and contributions would probably also increase

Crime should drop as poverty declines, so the necessity for expensive police and prisons should also be reduced

Under the American system, We the People are the rulers and government is the servant. At least that's the way it's supposed to be. Somehow we've let things get turned around over the past century, and it's time to restore our natural sovereignty. It will take a concerted effort by concerned and active Americans to change a system that has gotten out of our control.

DeTaxUS is the "Quiet Taxpayers' Revolution." In this revolution you don't need a musket or sword, just a keyboard or pen. As our membership grows we will add tools to this website that will allow you to contact your congressman and two senators and email them directly, or write or call them as you prefer.

When there are enough of us to make an impact, our representatives will listen, or we can replace them with men and women who will represent us and pass the legislation to free us from financial tyranny.

As long as Congress can continue to rely on an unlimited revenue stream by fleecing the taxpayers, they have no incentive to cut spending. But when the Sheep get tired of being sheared; when Congress can no longer operate in the red by the "Consent of the People;" when We the People have had enough and finally muster the courage to do more than complain; when we insist that the government go on a fiscal diet -- this nonsense will stop.

We have far too much government at the federal level and at much too high a cost. The proposed budget for 2003 is 2 Trillion Dollars. That's $2,000,000,000,000. With 284,796,887 people in the US as of July 2001, that's $7,022.55 for every man, woman and child in America. Not per taxpayer, not per worker, but per each living soul. Just to run the federal government for ONE year. And that's on top of the taxes we pay for local, county, and state government.

If the federal government is trimmed to only those functions delegated to it by the Constitution and made to operate more efficiently, we could replace the income tax with NOTHING. There are better ways to fund government than an income tax. The Constitution made adequate provisions for raising needed revenue without taxing the citizens directly or forcing them to labor in behalf of the government (except for military service in time of war).

The Grace Commission came up with 2,478 different ways to reduce spending. That was 20 years ago. To date, very few of their recommendations have been implemented. Spending continues to grow. Government continues to expand. Taxes at all levels continue to take an ever larger portion of our working lives. Everyone complains about taxes but no one has been able to do anything about them.
